CANTABELLA: Click on the link in the left hand column for results of the Disney auditions.

Upcoming events:

Spring Concert!!!  A "mostly" Disney extravaganza!!  Thursday, May 8th, 7:00 in the New Gym.

 AUDITIONS FOR NEXT YEAR'S CHOIRS:

Auditions for next year's choirs have been scheduled for Wednesday, May 14th, and Thursday, May 15th in the LPAC.  You may sign up for an audition slot outside the vocal sideroom door.

Those wishing to audition for Spectrum must attend a choreography session on Tuesday, May 13th, after school in the music room.  If you are unable to attend, you must make arrangements with Miss Zimmer to learn the choreography ahead of time.

You may pick up music excerpts outside the vocal sideroom door after school, Tuesday, May 6th.  ALL students will sing a verse and refrain of On Eagles Wings.  The reason why On Eagles Wings has been chosen is that it covers a wide range in your voices - I want to be able to hear how you handle the highs and lows of music literature, not just the "safe" middle area of your voice.

You will also be asked to sing some scales and arpeggios to hear your vocal range and your "switching" from the lower voice to the higher voice.  I will be placing people according to voice type.  For example, when I hear you sing On Eagle's Wings and the scales/warm up exercises, I will place you as an Alto I in Cantabella (JUST AN EXAMPLE).

Those wishing to audition for Spectrum will sing two excerpts.  You must sing On Eagle's Wings and you will also sing an excerpt of a Broadway or pop song OF YOUR CHOICE.  Be prepared to sing 16 measures that best shows off your voice and the style of song.

Choir choices:

Cantabella: All women - 24 voices.  There will be 6 females on each voice part (Soprano I, Soprano II, Alto I, Alto II).  All styles of music will be studied and performed, from classical to pop.

Spectrum: Mixed ensemble of males and females - number in choir is determined by auditions.  You must bring in an extra song choice (in the Broadway or pop style) and MUST participate in the dance audition.  All styles of music will be studied and performed, with an emphasis on Broadway, pop, vocal jazz.

Madrigals: Mixed ensemble of males and females - number determined by auditions.  This choir will primarily study and perform classical style literature, but will also have a special session of studying and performing vocal jazz and close harmonic music.

Mixed Chorus/Singers: Mixed ensemble consisting of freshman through seniors.  Students study a wide variety of styles of literature.
